MAWKYRWAT, Jan 19: Langrin MDC, Pius Marwein, has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) election from his constituency, citing a surge in support as hundreds of members from other political parties have joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) in recent days.
Speaking to the media after confirming the office-bearers of the UDP Nongnah Zone, UDP Women’s Wing Nongnah Zone, and UDP Youth Wing Nongnah Zone during a recent meeting at Nongnah, Marwein asserted that no UDP leader in Ranikor constituency has shifted allegiance, while support from other parties continues to grow.
“After visiting all the party units across the constituency, I have seen that my supporters still trust me as their leader. With the addition of new supporters from other political parties, I am very confident of winning again,” said Marwein.
He further stated that his decision to contest the upcoming MDC election was not personal but was based on the unanimous resolution of the UDP Ranikor Circle during a general meeting.
Expressing gratitude for the continued support, he expressed happiness that all party leaders and supporters remain united ahead of the election.
