West Jaintia Hills gears up to host 6th Meghalaya Games

JOWAI, Jan 19: The much awaited Torch of the Meghalaya Games 2025 will arrive in Jowai on 20th January 2025, marking the official countdown to the grand sporting event.
The torch, symbolizing unity, sportsmanship, and the spirit of Meghalaya will be carried to Iungwalieh Lumkyrwiang.
It will be ceremoniously placed there and made available for the public from 2 PM onwards.
The event will offer the residents of Jowai an opportunity to witness and celebrate the pride and enthusiasm surrounding the Meghalaya Games 2025.
The Meghalaya Games 2025 are set to bring together athletes from across the State, competing in multiple disciplines and celebrating the vibrant sporting culture of Meghalaya.
The Games aim to inspire the youth and promote sportsmanship, fitness and unity.

ATHLETES ARRIVE

Athletes from the 11 district along with the host district West Jaintia Hills arrived at Ladmukhla ground today for the much anticipated 6th Meghalaya games. They were warmly welcomed at the reception venue.
Local MLA and Chairman of MUDA Wailadmiki Shylla, Deputy Commissioner B.S Sohliya, IAS, Additionally Deputy Commissioner DV Lyngdoh and other organisers were present at the venue to oversee the arrangements and ensure everything was in place.
Wailadmiki Shylla encouraged residents of the West Jaintia Hills district to warmly welcome and support the athletes during their stay in the district. Some of the athletes expressed their happiness and satisfaction with the arrangements.
Many appreciated the warm welcome and well organised preparation at the reception venue.
