Bureaucratic rejig: Bigger responsibilities for five officials

SHILLONG, Jan 22: The Meghalaya government has effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle in the state.
A notification on Wednesday said CVD Diengdoh, the Secretary to the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department has been posted as the Commissioner and Secretary of Personnel and AR, Home (Police), Home (Political), Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development, Cabinet Affairs, General Administration, District Council Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, and Law departments. He has also been made the Legal Remembrancer.
He shall continue to function as the Director of Tourism, Managing Director of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, Project Director of the New Development Bank Funded Project, State Nodal Officer for Census, State Coordinator for National Population Register, Chief Executive Officer of Meghalaya Ropeway Development Authority and Joint Chief Executive Officer of Investment Meghalaya Authority, Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development departments.
FM Dopth, the Secretary to the Housing, etc., departments, has been posted as the Commissioner and Secretary to Housing, Arts and Culture, and Mining and Geology departments. He shall continue to function as the Secretary to the Human Rights Commission.
M War Nongbri, the Secretary to the Printing and Stationery, etc., departments, has been posted as the Commissioner and Secretary to the Printing and Stationery, Revenue and Disaster Management, and Labour departments. She shall continue to function as the Commissioner of Excise, Secretary of the Board of Revenue and Executive Director of the State Disaster Management Authority.
RC Sohkhlet, the Secretary to the Tourism, etc., departments, has been posted as the Commissioner and Secretary to the Tourism, Urban Affairs, Cooperation, Secretariat Administration, and Border Areas Development departments. She shall continue to function as the Secretary to the Meghalaya Commission on Resource Mobilisation, as Managing Director of the Meghalaya Rural Tourism Cooperative Federation Ltd, and as Managing Director of the Warehousing Corporation.
According to the notification, RM Kurbah, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district shall continue to function as the DC in Shillong but in the rank of Commissioner and Secretary.
IW Ingty, the Secretary to the Revenue and Disaster Management, etc., departments, has been posted as the Commissioner and Secretary to the Revenue and Disaster Management, Social Welfare, and Legal Metrology departments. He shall continue to function as Member Secretary of the State Level Public Grievances Commission.
