TURA, Jan 29: Social activist from Tura, Flaming B Marak has written to the Chairman of the UPSC in New Delhi, urging that the proposal by the Meghalaya government be turned down, if former GHADC Secretary Rikse R Marak is nominated for the post of an IAS.
“If Marak is selected or recommended by the Meghalaya government for appointment or for nomination to the post of an IAS, I request you to kindly reject it,” Marak said in his letter to the UPSC Chairman.
Marak claimed in his letter that numerous corruption cases against the officer are pending with the Meghalaya Lokayukta, without any detailed investigation having been conducted.
Flaming requested prior verification as well as the conduct of an inquiry from the concerned court, the investigation officer or the office of the GHADC, before considering the officer’s nomination or appointment to the post of an IAS.
