Cong MP arrested in rape case

Sitapur, Jan 30: Congress MP Rakesh Rathore was arrested from his residence here in a rape case on Thursday, a day after the Allahabad High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. Rathore was addressing a press conference when Kotwali Nagar police reached his residence to take him into custody. An FIR was lodged against Rathore on January 17 on a complaint by a woman who accused him of repeatedly raping her over four years after promising to marry her. Authorities are continuing their probe into the matter. (PTI)

RGI airport receives hoax bomb threat

Hyderabad, Jan 30: The RGI airport here received a bomb threat call but it was found to be hoax, police said on Thursday. A person called police dialing ‘100’ on January 29 afternoon and gave a bomb threat. Appropriate measures were taken at the airport. An alert is already in force at the airport in view of Republic Day. The caller, a resident of Kamareddy district of Telangana, was mentally unsound, police added. (PTI)

Dogs seen playing with skull; probe begins

Jabalpur, Jan 30: A probe has been started after a video on social media showed two dogs playing with a skull near the hostel of a government-run medical college in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur city, police said on Thursday. It was yet to be ascertained if it was a human skull, said a senior college official. An inquiry will throw light on the origin of the skull, he said, adding that the police were informed promptly. (PTI)

Slab collapses at JK Cement unit; three dead

Panna, Jan 30: Three labourers were killed and 16 others injured on Thursday in a slab collapse incident at JK Cement factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district, local MP Vishnu Dutt Sharma said. “Three labourers were killed and 16 others injured at an under-construction unit inside the factory. The condition of two injured persons is serious,” the state BJP chief. (PTI)

CRPF jawan shoots wife dead, kills self

Bhopal, Jan 30: A CRPF constable allegedly shot his wife dead before killing himself at their house in Bhopal on Thursday, police said. Ravikant Verma (35), who was stationed at the CRPF Bangrasia Camp near here, killed his wife Renu (32), and then called the CRPF control room, local police and his landlord before shooting himself dead with the same service rifle. (PTI)
