SHILLONG, Jan 31: In a bid to provide a push to state’s ambition of becoming a USD 10 billion economy, the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) held its first-ever awareness programme in the city on Friday, focusing on promoting UNNATI 2024 (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme) and the Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (MIIPP) 2024.
The programme drew participation from various industrial hubs, including the Byrnihat Industrial Area EPIP, units in Umiam, the Industrial Growth Centre in Garo Hills, and the Bamboo Park in Ri-Bhoi.
The event also saw the presence of seasoned entrepreneurs from across the state, underlining the broad interest in industrial development and investment opportunities.  Upbeat about the initiative, MIDC Chairman James PK Sangma exhorted the vision to establishing Meghalaya as a hub for innovative entrepreneurship, aligning with the Chief Minister’s ambitious economic goals.
A key segment of the event was a presentation by the Chief Manager of the National SC-ST Hub, who outlined various government schemes tailored to support SC/ST entrepreneurs. The session underscored the MSME sector’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the Northeast, ensuring that marginalised communities receive financial and developmental support.
