SHILLONG, Jan 31: The Meghalaya government is awaiting instructions from the Ministry of Education to act as required on the report submitted by the two-member committee which had probed into the allegations of mismanagement and administrative failures in the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
“The report of the two-member committee has already been submitted to the Ministry. We are not privy to the report and we don’t know its content,” Chief Secretary DP Wahlang said on Friday, while adding that the report is being scrutinised at the Ministry level and the state government will act once instructions are received from the Ministry.
The Ministry had constituted the committee consisting of Prof DP Singh, former chairman of the UGC and Prof Dilip Chandra Nath, former VC of Assam University, to conduct an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in NEHU.
