259 candidates in fray for dist council polls

SHILLONG, Feb 3: A total of 157 candidates have filed their nominations for the KHADC polls while 102 candidates are in the fray for the JHADC polls. Filing of nominations ended on Monday and scrutiny of papers was done the same day.
Among those who filed their nominations on the final day included KHADC CEM and NPP candidate from Nongthymmai, Pyniaid Sing Syiem and UDP MLA and candidate from Nongspung-Sohiong, Synshar Kupar Roy Lyngdoh Thabah. Others who filed their nominations were NPP candidate from Mawkynrew, Amanda Pakyntein, Congress candidate from Nongkrem, Lamborsing Nongrum, UDP candidate from Mawkynrew, Kansing Lyngshiang and Congress candidate from Mawkynrew, Hilarius Warbah.
There are 7 candidates each in Mawkynrew, Mawsynram and Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah seats; 6 each in Sohryngkham, Langkyrdem-Laitkroh, Nongthymmai, Mawlai, Mawphlang-Diengiei and Nongspung-Sohiong; 5 each in Nongshken, Mylliem and Laitumkhrah-Malki; 4 each in Laban-Mawprem and Jaiaw and 3 candidates in Nongkrem. A total of 11 candidates are in fray in Sohra and Shella.
