FIR over pending JJM work in SGH

TURA, Feb 4: Revealing another instance of the failure of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Garo Hills, an FIR has been filed against a contractor for abandoning a project he was undertaking in South Garo Hills.
The FIR was filed against contractor, Shahidur Rahman, at Gasuapara police station by the A’chik Dedicated Integrity Leaders (ADIL). According to the FIR, Rahman abandoned the JJM project meant for villages like Ramchenga, Konagittim Jatapara, Kolapara and Namchapara under Gasuapara Block in South Garo Hills.
“The project which falls under Chokpot PHE Sub-Division has been left unfinished for nearly four years, causing significant difficulties for the public with regard to water supply,” the FIR stated, while claiming that its efforts to find out information was not entertained by the department.
The FIR, while urging the department to look into the matter also sought action against the contractor concerned for the irregularities.
