Five companies of police personnel to ensure security for ADC polls

SHILLONG, Feb 4: Five companies of police personnel will be deployed in East Khasi Hills to ensure a smooth and safe conduct of the KHADC elections on February 21.
“The law and order situation is under control right now and we have no reports of any clash or conflict. As the days run by, we will be getting additional forces,” a senior police official said on Tuesday.
According to the official, the five companies of police personnel consisting of mobile and tactical patrol teams will be deployed across polling stations, vulnerable and critical areas in East Khasi Hills.
There are 943 polling stations in the district out of which 34 have been marked as vulnerable while five others are critical.
The official said night patrolling, and mobile patrolling have been intensified to ensure everything is under control.
On the ongoing public functions and campaigns picking pace in various pockets, the official informed that the police personnel are already manning these areas and the reports are normal.
