“Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma chaired a meeting with the Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and different stakeholders to discuss the price rise of essential commodities affecting the public. The chief minister has directed that a task force be constituted to study factors and causes contributing to price rise, especially of meat, fish, poultry, and vegetables,” an official said on Thursday.
The task force will be headed by officials of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Urban Affairs & Municipal Administration.
The deputy commissioners and superintendents of police will monitor prices regularly and curb the factors that artificially spike prices.
