TURA, Feb 7: A local group from Phulbari in West Garo Hills has submitted a complaint to the GHADC Raksamgre Range Office, alleging illegal operation of a sawmill as well as transportation of logs at Rongsai village under Raksamgre Sub-Division.
The group, A’chik Dedicated Integrity Leaders (ADIL), claimed that the illegal sawmill has been running without the required permit or approval of the authorities concerned.
Further, the illegal transportation of logs from the sawmill, as per the organisation, is taking place during night hours.
Pointing out that the operation of the sawmill is not only illegal but also poses a threat to the environment, the organisation urged the department concerned to conduct an investigation into the matter and take necessary action against the illegal operators.
