JOWAI, Feb 7: The employees of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), under the banner of JHADC Staff Association (JHADC-SA), have expressed their gratitude to the state government for releasing Rs 40 crore for the Council last month.
In a statement issued by the president and secretary of JHADC-SA, they said, “We are extremely thankful to receive Rs 40 crore, through which the Council has been able to pay the salaries of the employees up to August 2024. This payment came only three or four days after the announcement by the chief minister in the office of the JHADC CEM.”
They further clarified that the total amount received in January 2025 was Rs 57.84 crore, which included the Rs 40 crore released by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, along with Rs 8.33 crore and Rs 9.51 crore as royalties. This total amount allowed the council to clear salary dues up to August 2024.
Additionally, the JHADC employees expressed their appreciation for Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla and the JHADC Executive Committee, under the leadership of Thombor Shiwat, for their collective efforts in addressing the Council’s challenges.
The JHADC employees, at the same time, also urged the government to continue releasing funds in a timely manner to prevent staff from facing similar financial difficulties as in previous years.
