TURA, Feb 7: As part of the nationwide 100-Day TB-Free Campaign, the District Tuberculosis Officer, Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, in collaboration with the DM&HO, Resubelpara, North Garo Hills, organised a TB awareness programme at the Multipurpose Co-operative Society Hall, Mendipathar, on Friday.
The programme aimed to raise community awareness about Tuberculosis (TB), preventive treatments, and other measures to curb the disease.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Mendipathar MLA, Marthon J. Sangma, urged people to eliminate the social stigma associated with TB.
He also highlighted the advancements in medical technology that have significantly improved the treatment of deadly diseases.
On the other hand, North Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rezia Sangma, stressed that the campaign should not only focus on high-risk elderly patients or areas with high TB prevalence but also on children, who are particularly vulnerable.
She emphasised early diagnosis as the most effective strategy for TB treatment.
