B’deshi, Indian nationals held

On February 5 around 8 pm, police intercepted two vehicles (ML-14A-0593 and ML-09A-3830) along with nine Bangladeshi nationals, viz. Md Mostafa (39), Manir Hussain (38), Md Manik Mia (32), Nasir Ahmed (49), Md Shah Alom (28), Motaleb Sk (39), Sofiqul Islam Badshah (29), Bilal Hussain (36) and Joel Miah (42) and three Indian nationals, viz. Sengbat R Marak (29), Prebiush M Sangma (18) and Samarendro Koch (42) at Dalamgre, West Garo Hills, and recovered/seized 12 mobile phones, Indian currency worth Rs. 29,500, Aadhaar cards and other incriminating documents from their possessions. During enquiry, it transpired that the Bangladeshi nationals had illegally entered into the Indian territory through Sylhet/Silchar, Assam, and later contacted Sengbat R Marak through another individual, who facilitated their return to Bangladesh at Rs 7,000 per head. Police have, meanwhile, arrested the intruders as well as the Indian facilitators.

Theft

Shamborlang Thabah lodged a complaint that unknown miscreant(s) stole one mobile tower and tower equipment belonging to GTL Infrastructure Ltd., from Weiloi village, EKH.
Dharnesh Kemprai lodged a complaint that on January 31, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the premises of HQ R&DE (BRO) at Umpling, Shillong and stole one water geyser from JCO Mess Hall.
Vishal Deb lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of February 3 and 4, unknown miscreants stole his motorcycle (ML-05AD-3365) from his residential compound at Keating Road, Shillong.
John Paul Basaiawmoit lodged a complaint that on February 3, unknown miscreant(s) stole electrical wires valued around Rs. 50,000 from his under-construction building at Shyiap, Langkyrding-A, Shillong.
Rajendra Sinha lodged a complaint that on February 3, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his residence at Goraline Road, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, and stole one Apple iPad, one LPG cylinder, Rs. 2,500 in cash, valuable documents, etc.
On early morning of February 5, unknown miscreant(s) stole one motorcycle (ML-04D-8539) from Lumchyrmit, Mihmyntdu, Jowai, WJH.
Kalpesh Narayan Bishoyi lodged a complaint that on February 2, unknown miscreant(s) damaged the seat of his scooter (OD-07K-3873) at Police Bazar, Shillong and stole one DJI Mavic Mini 4 Pro drone.

Cattle recovery

Coy Commander, E-Coy, 110th Bn., BSF, BOP Ryngku, EKH, lodged a complaint that on February 4 around 7:40 pm, BSF personnel, acting of inputs, detected movement of suspected miscreants/cattle smugglers near Chillai River under Delsora village, EKH. However, on seeing the BSF personnel, the miscreants/cattle smugglers fled away. During the search, BSF personnel recovered eight head of cattle from the area.

Construction materials missing

Sbunbha Shylla lodged a complaint that on February 5 around 11.30 am, he found that construction materials including wires valued around Rs. 1.5 lakh were missing from the under-construction building at Lumkhyriem, Umpling, Rynjah, Shillong.

Unauthorised transaction

A female resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 15, 2025, she received anonymous phone calls in which the callers, claiming to be employees of SBI, offered her a loan and asked her to provide her particulars including bank account number, mobile number, etc. to which she complied. On February 1, the complainant noticed that Rs. 42,343 was debited from her bank account without her knowledge.

Fraud bid

A woman from a village in Eastern West Khasi Hills lodged a complaint that on January 3, one woman, who claimed to be an employee in one airport, attempted to cheat her of Rs. 55,000 on the pretext that her Facebook friend, viz. Mccole James has been detained in the airport with foreign currency.

Tree saplings damaged

Ïoanis Ïawphniaw lodged a complaint that on January 31 around 6 pm, unknown miscreant(s) set ablaze the jungle at Laikynja, Ranab Sabsiej, Rangblang Sohsynniang, SWKH. As a result, several tree saplings valued around Rs. 9.35 lakhs were damaged.

Two-wheeler recovery

On the afternoon of February 4, police recovered two suspected stolen motorcycles from Umladkhur under Amlarem Police Station, WJH.
