CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025
Dhaka, Feb 9: The Bangladesh national cricket team commenced their preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy with an intensive training session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Head coach Phil Simmons oversaw the practice session, which saw the participation of nearly all squad members.
Interestingly, some players began their training even before the official camp got underway. Under the guidance of assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin, players whose teams did not qualify for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) playoffs resumed practice early.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was among those who started training ahead of schedule. Despite his team, Fortune Barishal, clinching the BPL title, Shanto did not feature in the playing XI due to team composition decisions. Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal expressed regret over the situation.“It’s very unfortunate. We haven’t been able to give him as many opportunities as he deserves,” said Tamim. (Agencies)
