Teenager stabbed to death, juveniles held

New Delhi, Feb 11: Two juveniles have been apprehended for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old boy to death in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area, police said on Tuesday. They said a knife used in the crime has been recovered and efforts are on to nab another person involved in the killing. On Sunday, police got information that a person was lying injured in Gautampuri, following which a team reached the spot and found the boy lying in a pool of blood with stab injuries, a police officer said. Tribal girl gang-raped, all accused arrested

Koraput, Feb 11: A 14-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by four youths in Odisha’s Koraput district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Saturday night when the girl visited a ‘Jatra’ or village theatre with her friends. As she came out of the venue to relieve herself, the four accused abducted her and took her to a nearby hillock, where they took turns to rape her, a police officer said. (PTI)

Man, his sister die by suicide over debt

Palghar, Feb 11: A 40-year-old man and his sister allegedly committed suicide in their house in Maharashtra’s Palghar district apparently due to mounting family debt, police said on Tuesday. The bodies of Hanumanat Sridhar Prasad and his sister Yamuna (45) were recovered from their flat in a housing complex in Vasai on Monday, an official said. The siblings, who ended their lives by consuming poison, were under stress due to mounting debt, he said, citing a statement made by a family member. (PTI)

Elephant tramples farmer to death

Bahraich, Feb 11: A 75-year-old farmer was trampled to death by an elephant in a village near the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary here, officials said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Bardia village under Sujauli police station limits late on Monday night. The farmer, Brijlal, was sleeping on a ‘machan’ (resting place) on a tree to guard his crops in his field when an elephant came from a nearby forest and shook the tree, causing him to fall. The elephant then trampled him to death, villagers said. (PTI)

One booked for sending man to US illegally

Jind, Feb 11: A man was booked for allegedly sending a person to America illegally, police said on Tuesday. According to police, Suresh in a complaint against Arsh Kohlon, said that his younger brother, Rohit, wanted to go to the USA to study International Business Management. He contacted Karnal’s Chaitanya Academy Career. In November last year, Rohit got in touch with Kohlon who claimed to be a registered agent. He assured Rohit of sending him to America and charged Rs 10 lakh, police said. Based on Suresh’s complaint, police have registered a case against Kohlon. (PTI)
