MPFA announces powerlifting tournament schedule for 2025-26

Shillong, Feb 13: The Meghalaya Powerlifting & Fitness Association (MPFA), affiliated with Powerlifting India, which is recognized by the International Powerlifting Federation, Asian Powerlifting Federation, and Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation, has announced its competition calendar for the 2025-26 season.
In a press conference on Thursday, the MPFA revealed that several state and national-level events will take place over the coming year, featuring both male and female participants across various powerlifting disciplines. The first major competition, the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift (SBD) Open, is scheduled to be held in Umsning on March 29, 2025. This will be followed by the 1st Squat Open in Shillong in June and the 1st Deadlift Open in Shillong in August. In October, Umsning will once again host the 5th Bench Press Open, while the final event, a Bench Press Open, will be held in Bhivani, Haryana, in January 2026 as a national-level competition.
