SHILLONG, Feb 13: This Valentine’s Day, Meghalaya is set to be swept up in a wave of rock nostalgia as legendary American rock band Mr. Big returns to the state for one final, unforgettable performance. Headlining Bloomverse Festival 2025 as part of their farewell tour — The BIG Finish Tour — the band will take the stage at Lum’er Pyngngad, Umiam, on Friday, marking their last-ever show in India and giving Meghalaya a farewell to remember.
Mr. Big last performed in the Northeast in 2009, with shows in Dimapur and Shillong.
Reflecting on those performances, the band shared their excitement about returning after 16 years. “Our previous shows in Northeast India, especially in Dimapur and Shillong, were unforgettable! The energy, the love — it’s something we’ve never forgotten,” they said to The Shillong Times.
The band also mentioned about how there could be no place better than Shillong which is a musical hub to bring their farewell tour.
For Shillong, this concert is more than just a performance — it is a moment of history.
Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, and Billy Sheehan will bring their signature sound to the festival, performing their multi-platinum album ‘Lean Into It’ in its entirety, alongside other timeless classics. With anthems like To Be with You and Green-Tinted Sixties Mind, the band has left an indelible mark on rock history, and their presence at Bloomverse Festival 2025 will elevate the event to new heights.
With Meghalaya Tourism as the festival’s official tourism partner, this year’s edition of Bloomverse is shaping up to be the most spectacular yet.
The lineup boasts an impressive mix of international and national artists, including The Midnight, Anuv Jain, The Yellow Diary, Lifafa, and BLOT! Fans of independent and regional music will also be treated to some of the finest talents from the Northeast, including Lucid Recess, Bishrut Saikia, Meba Ofilia, Chorun Mugli, Meewakching, and Polar Lights.
Beyond the music, Bloomverse 2025 is a celebration of art, culture, and immersive experiences. The festival grounds will transform into a wonderland of breathtaking art installations, interactive brand activations, and a culinary journey featuring both local and global flavours. Set against the stunning natural backdrop of Meghalaya, the festival promises to be a multi-sensory extravaganza.
With thousands of fans expected to gather under the starry sky of Umiam, Mr. Big’s final India performance will be an emotional, electrifying spectacle, etched forever in the hearts of those who witness it.
As the countdown to February 14 begins, tickets are in high demand. With anticipation at an all-time high, securing a spot at Bloomverse Festival 2025 has become a race against time.
