Two persons including DSP killed in road accident
JAJPUR, (Odisha) Feb 16: Two persons including a Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed when their car was hit by a speeding truck in Odisha’s Jajpur district on SundayThe deceased police officer has been identified as Balaram Nayak while the other deceased is his relative, identified as Purna Chandra Nayak.According to reports, the DSP along with his relative was returning to Panikoili from his native place when a speeding truck hit their car.The local people rescued the two and sent them to the hospital in critical condition. However, both were declared dead on arrival.The police have started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.A manhunt is on to nab the driver of the truck, police said. (PTI)
Wife of local AAP leader killed during robbery bid
LUDHIANA, Feb 16: The wife of a local AAP leader was killed by robbers near a village here on Sunday.AAP leader Anokh Mittal and his wife Lipsy Mittal were returning home after having dinner at a hotel on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road, said police.The robbers intercepted their car and attacked the couple with sharp-edged weapons.Lipsy Mittal, 33, died on the spot while her husband, who is a local trader, received serious injuries and was admitted to a private hospital, they said.A senior police officer said the matter was being investigated. BJP office bearer booked for dancing with gun at event
THANE, Feb 16: A case has been registered against an office-bearer of the BJP and his brother for brandishing a revolver while dancing at a pre-wedding ceremony in Maharashtra’s Thane districton Sunday.The police registered a First Information Report(FIR) against Chintaman Lokhande, a businessman and vice-president of the BJP’s OBC cell in Kalyan, and his brother after a video of the dance surfaced on social media.According to the police, Lokhande allegedly brandished a revolver while dancing during his sister’s pre-wedding festivities.In the video, Lokhande can be seen dancing to a song and suddenly pulling out a revolver and waving it in the air to the shock of people present at the scene.The official said a probe is underway in the case registered under the Arms Act. 4 killed, 6 injured as tempo-traveller hits bus
BARABANKI, (UP) Feb 16: Four persons, including a woman, were killed while six others were injured after a tempo-traveller hit a bus from behind on the Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki district on Sunday, police said.The bus coming from Chhattisgarh and the tempo-traveller coming from Maharashtra were both headed to Ayodhya. All the deceased and injured were travelling in the tempo-traveller, police said. Police had to use a cutter and bring out the people trapped in the tempo-traveller. The police suspect that the accident took place after the driver of the tempo-traveller dozed off, the police said in a statement released here.(PTI)
