Cricket Lovers, Sohra storm into T20 final

Shillong, Feb 27: Cricket Lovers CC and Sohra Combined set up a title clash in the ongoing East Khasi Hills District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024 after registering convincing victories in the semi-final matches played on Day 20 of the tournament.
In the first semi-final, Cricket Lovers CC defeated Laitjem CC by 72 runs. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Cricket Lovers posted a competitive total of 185/9 in 20 overs. Shavian Blah top-scored with a brisk 69 off 40 balls, while Newrilang Wankhar impressed with the ball, claiming 4/27 in his four-over spell.In reply, Laitjem CC faltered in their chase and were bundled out for 119/9 in 18.4 overs. Poilang Thawmuit top-scored with 21 runs off 27 balls, while Damechwa Khongsngi starred with the ball, taking 2/8 in two overs. Khongsngi was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round contribution.In the second semi-final, Sohra Combined outclassed Friends United CC by 66 runs. After opting to bat first, Sohra Combined posted 170/7 in 20 overs, with Ryan Emi Swer leading the charge with 36 off 22 balls. Nangkiewkor Moore Don picked up 2/33 in four overs for Friends United.Chasing 171, Friends United CC struggled against disciplined bowling and managed only 104/8 in 20 overs. Nangkiewdor Moore Don fought a lone battle, scoring 41 off 38 balls, but Kevin Diengdoh’s 3/28 in four overs ensured Sohra Combined’s comfortable victory. Swer was named Player of the Match for his crucial knock.
The final between Cricket Lovers CC and Sohra Combined will be played on March 1 at 10 AM.
