OWAI, Feb 27: All 29 newly elected MDCs of the JHADC, including three women, gathered on Thursday for a celebratory feast following their recent electoral victory. The event was organised as a gesture of gratitude toward the public for their support and to honour the trust placed in them by the people.
The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills, AK Singh, attended the event and congratulated the MDCs on their success in the recently concluded elections. He also announced that the elections for the Chairman and Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the District Council would be held on Friday. The election for the Chairman is scheduled for 11 am, followed by the election for the CEM at 2 pm.
