SHILLONG, March 1: Governor CH Vijayashankar is set to visit AIIMS, New Delhi, for a thorough medical check-up and diagnosis. This was learnt after the Governor was seen arriving in a wheelchair to the Assembly on the first day of the Budge session of the House here on Friday.
The Governor has reportedly been experiencing back and knee problems, which have forced him to use a wheelchair. Sources confirmed that while he is otherwise in good health, he continues to suffer from persistent knee and back pain.
On the first day of the State Assembly’s budget session, the Governor arrived in a wheelchair to address the House. He was welcomed outside by Speaker Thomas A Sangma, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, and Opposition Leader Mukul M Sangma before being escorted to the well of the House.
Despite his health issues, he delivered a brief 15-minute address, posed for the customary group photo with legislators, and then departed from the Assembly.
The Governor’s mobility has been affected by his condition, and he has been in considerable pain. However, he made it a point to attend the session and address the legislators, demonstrating his commitment despite the physical discomfort.
