BAGHMARA, March 10: Social activist, Greneth M Sangma on Monday moved the Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills seeking the clearance of pending dues of MGNREGA job card holders as well as the issue of fresh work orders to even those without Aaadhaar cards in Baghmara, Chokpot, Gasuapara and Rongara-Siju blocks.
“I request you to continue providing employment to those job card holders who have become inactive due to not being able to provide Aadhaar information as the state is exempted from Aadhaar enrolment, owing to the Sixth Schedule. The Supreme Court has ruled that enrolment is not mandatory for residents to avail job card benefits,” said Greneth.
The activist sought action on the payments pending since 2022-23 and 2023-24 while also asking for the DC’s intervention into the AADHAR impasse for job card holders.
