Elderly man’s decomposed body found
Mumbai, March 12: The decomposed body of an elderly man was found on a roadside near a bus depot in Mumbai on Tuesday, an official said. The deceased was later identified as Ananth Ramachandra Akubathin (69), he said. A passer-by spotted the body lying near Pratiksha Nagar bus depot around 11.30 am and alerted the police. Personnel from Wadala Truck Terminal police station reached the spot and sent the body to a civic-run hospital for post-mortem, the official said. It was yet to be ascertained whether the man was murdered or died a natural death, he said. According to police, the man had a habit of drinking and stayed with his brother in Pratiksha Nagar. (PTI)

Disguised as woman, man sets married lover afire
Mathura, March 12: A 28-year-old man disguised as a woman set his married lover afire inside her house here after she refused to elope with him, police said. As the woman’s neighbours rushed to her house after hearing her screams on Tuesday afternoon, Umesh, who was wearing a lehenga, tried to escape by jumping from the terrace and sustained severe injuries in the process, police said. Both Rekha (30), who suffered over 70 per cent burns, and Umesh are undergoing treatment at a medical college. (PTI)

Woman, two daughters found dead
New Delhi, March 12: A 42-year-old woman and her two daughters were found dead at their home in southeast Delhi’s Molarband, with initial investigations suggesting suicide due to financial distress, police said on Wednesday. The decomposed bodies were found after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the residence, a police officer said. Police received a PCR call from Molarband, with the caller informing that a strong odour was coming from House Number 43 on the second floor in street number 16, where the mother and daughter resided, he said. The three had white foam coming out of their mouths, suggesting the consumption of a poisonous substance, the police said. (PTI)

300 U’khand Police personnel raid homes in Bareilly
Bareilly, March 12: More than 300 police personnel from Uttarakhand, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) conducted raids on alleged drug peddlers’ homes here without prior coordination with the local police, officials said on Wednesday. The operation, carried out in the Fatehganj West area during the early hours of Monday, involved a convoy of 70 vehicles, police said. Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya confirmed that the district police was not informed about the raids. He said, “We were not informed about the operation by the Uttarakhand Police.” “The Uttarakhand Police raided several homes in the Fatehganj West area, detaining 16 individuals. (PTI)
