Two injured as car rear-ends rickshaw in Nongpoh

NONGPOH, March 12: Two passengers sustained injuries when an autorickshaw was rear-ended by a car at a junction along National Highway 6, near Bethany Hospital Outreach in Pahamsyiem here on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the accident occurred at approximately 6:45 pm. The autorickshaw, bearing registration number ML10 A7293, was driven by Bankerlang Kshiar and was travelling from Saiden to Nongpoh with two passengers on board — Md Ramjan Ali (45) from Mawkapiah and Damewanshwa Khriam (18) from Umjarasi.
As the autorickshaw approached the Bethany Hospital Outreach area, a car with registration number WB20 B8521, driven by 27-year-old Pynhun Marsing, allegedly under the influence, crashed into it from behind, injuring the two passengers.
Police immediately rushed Md Ramjan Ali and Damewanshwa Khriam to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Khriam was later referred to a more advanced medical facility for further care.
Following the incident, Nongpoh police seized both vehicles and initiated necessary legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
