Indian football team arrives in Shillong for int’l friendlies

Shillong, March 14:The Indian national football team touched down in Shillong on Friday ahead of their upcoming international friendly matches against Maldives and Bangladesh.
The team’s manager, Velu Dhayalamani, was welcomed on Thursday by Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) president Hamleston Dohling upon his arrival in the city.
India is set to face Maldives in the first friendly match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on March 19, followed by their second fixture against Bangladesh on March 25 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the Maldives squad is expected to arrive in Shillong on Sunday, while the Bangladesh team will reach the city on March 20.
With football fever gripping Shillong, the two matches are expected to draw enthusiastic crowds, showcasing the region’s passion for the sport. These friendlies will not only serve as crucial preparatory fixtures for the Indian team but also provide local fans with a rare opportunity to witness international football action up close.
