10th ‘Quizabled’ celebrates talent of special kids, youth

SHILLONG, March 18: The 10th edition of ‘Quizabled: Knowledge for All’ was held on Tuesday, celebrating the knowledge and talents of children and youth with disabilities. The event, organised by SEVA-in-ACTION in collaboration with the Meghalaya Parents Association for Disabled (MEPAD), saw the participation of 86 students from various districts.
The competition had three categories — children and youth with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy and the autism spectrum disorder.
Chief guest Camelia Doreen Lyngwa, Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities, emphasised the importance of empowering young minds through such inclusive initiatives. She highlighted the need for open discussions and increased opportunities for children with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism spectrum disorder.
Kennedy Rynjah and Jasson Khyriam, representing Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan – RMSA, emerged as winners in the Cerebral Palsy category.
In the Intellectual Disability Category (Junior), Andrew Abenzio Diengdoh and Phidaribha Dohling from the Mary Rice Centre of Special Education secured the winner’s title. Meanwhile, in the Intellectual Disability Category (Senior), Karamjit Das and Willingson Manar from BSF Senior Secondary School were declared winners.
As part of their achievement, the winners received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
