SHILLONG, March 21: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Shemborlang Rynjah on Friday released a new Khasi book titled ‘Ka Tynrai u Khasi bad ka Synshar Khadar’, written by former teacher and Khasi traditional practitioner D.L. Nongspung.
Speaking to reporters after the book launch, Nongspung said he first decided to write the book in 2015 to document the age-old customary and traditional governance system of the Khasi people.
He shared that he traveled extensively across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills to gather information and gain a deeper understanding of traditional governance and adjudication, both before and after India’s independence.
According to him, the book will help readers develop a better understanding of Khasi culture and the clan system, which has been practiced since time immemorial.
Nongspung further stated that the book consists of 33 chapters, covering various topics and issues related to Khasi traditions and governance.
