Govt inks MoU for scholarship prog

Shillong, March 22: A MoU between the state government and the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation was signed on Friday to provide scholarships to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged families.
The MoU was signed in the office of the chief secretary for launching the foundation’s Vidyadhan scholarship programme in Meghalaya.
The scholarship programme would provide scholarships to meritorious students from class 11 till graduation.
Vidyadhan is a flagship programme of the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation, established by Kumari Shibulal and SD Shibulal (co-founder and ex-CEO of Infosys) in 1999. The programme is present in 20 states/ UTs, and this year plans to start the scholarships in Meghalaya.
Meera Rajeevan, COO of the foundation, Principal Consultant Pankaj Tripathi, and Manager (Operations) Jacob Sukumar R, said that the support from the Meghalaya government was heartwarming and they looked forward to a sustained partnership.
Once the class 10 results are out, the Vidyadhan scholarships will open and the eligible students can apply online free of cost. Details about the programme will be shared through a flyer within a week of the class 10 results with the government and through newspapers.
