Ri-Bhoi man convicted in POCSO case

SHILLONG, March 26: A special court in Ri-Bhoi district has convicted a 60-year-old man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Md. Nasir Khan, a resident of Baridua in Ri-Bhoi, was found guilty under Sections 9(n)/10 of the POCSO Act, 2012, and Section 377 of the IPC in connection with a case registered at Khanapara Police Station in 2015.
The case was investigated by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Jubaraj Rabha.
Khan has been awarded six years of rigorous imprisonment and has been imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
According to the court, failure to pay the fine will result in an additional month of simple imprisonment.
