Ex-CJ of M’laya HC passes away in Mumbai road accident

SHILLONG, March 31: Justice Tarun Agarwala, former Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court and ex-Presiding Officer of the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), passed away in the early hours of Saturday in Mumbai.
He succumbed to injuries after being struck by a reversing taxi at Nariman Point. Despite multiple attempts to revive him, he could not be saved.
Justice Agarwala was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya on February 12, 2018, and served until his retirement on March 2, 2018.
During his brief tenure, he presided over several significant cases.
Following his retirement, he was appointed as the Presiding Officer of the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) in December 2018 for a five-year term.
During his tenure, he played a key role in adjudicating securities market disputes and ensuring regulatory compliance in India’s financial sector.
