SHILLONG, April 2: The Meghalaya government, through SSA-SEMAM & DSEL, has signed a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Learning Links Foundation (LLF) to enhance education programmes for students in Grades 1-8.
Currently, LLF is implementing the Holistic Child Development Program (HCDP) in East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills, with plans for further expansion.
Under this initiative, the foundation will roll out interventions in 10 schools in Mawlai and 10 schools in West Garo Hills.
The MoU, signed by State Project Director Swapnil Tembe and Dibyayan Datta of LLF, marks a significant step towards strengthening the education sector in Meghalaya.
LLF, a non-profit organisation, aims to enrich lives through learning, with a vision of fostering lifelong learning and holistic development.
The foundation’s work spans the entire education lifecycle, covering both formal and non-formal education, from primary to higher education.
A senior official informed that the HCDP is designed to address learning gaps among government primary school students while building a strong foundation for holistic development.
He added that the programme also focuses on improving attendance and reducing dropouts by nurturing both scholastic and co-scholastic growth through a sustainable and scalable model.
Additionally, the HCDP also stresses on learning enhancement supported by health, wellness, physical development through sports, art appreciation and basic artificial intelligence (AI) education for underserved government school children aged 6-10 years.
