SHILLONG, April 2: Ha Lyngkha Bneng (The Elysian Field), a Khasi-language film directed by Pradip Kurbah, has been selected for the Main Competition at the 47th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) 2025, scheduled to take place from April 17 to 24 in Moscow.
Filmed in and around Sohra, Meghalaya, the film delves into themes of community, loneliness and human connection, portraying a village gradually abandoned due to urban migration, where friendship becomes a means of survival.
The film first gained recognition in 2020 when it was selected for the Asian Project Market in Busan and the Co-Production Market at India’s Film Bazaar. Produced by Kurbah Films in collaboration with various partners, Ha Lyngkha Bneng features a talented cast, including Richard Kharpuri, Helena Duiia, Baia Marbaniang, Albert Mawriew, Merlvin Mukhim, and Jeetesh Sharma.
Director Pradip Kurbah, renowned for his commitment to indigenous narratives, continues to showcase the culture and traditions of Meghalaya on the global stage.
