Noted Shillong photographer passes away

SHILLONG, April 2: Shillong-based noted photographer, Ahmed Hussain, passed away on Wednesday at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS). He was 93.
Hussain, a prominent social figure, was the founder of Karuz Studio and played a vital role in Shillong’s artistic and cultural circles.
His family, which has resided in Shillong for over 150 years, is credited with establishing the first passenger motor service in undivided Assam during the British Raj.
A widower, Hussain was socially active throughout his life and is survived by his daughter and son.
His funeral procession will take place on April 3, between 1:30 pm and 2 pm, from his residence.
Meanwhile, the Keating Road Welfare Organisation has condoled the demise of Hussain, acknowledging his family’s contributions to Shillong’s development, particularly in establishing transport services between Shillong and Guwahati.
