SHILLONG, April 3: Former Chief Secretary, Rebecca Vanessa Suchiang, was sworn in as the State Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, on Thursday.
Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar administered the oath, appointing Suchiang to a three-year term.
It may be mentioned that the position had remained vacant since former CIC H. Nongpluh was appointed as a member of the Meghalaya State Human Rights Commission.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by DGP Idashisha Nongrang, Principal Secretaries FR Kharkongor and Pravin Bakshi, retired IAS officer Ripnar Lyngdoh, and other officials.
Suchiang, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, previously made history as the first Khasi woman to serve as Chief Secretary of Meghalaya.
