Gorkha Association concludes 5th Inter-School Athletics Meet

Shillong, April 13:The Gorkha Association Shillong successfully concluded the Final Day Ceremony of the 5th Inter-School Athletics Meet 2025 on Saturday with a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and community spirit.
The event was held at the Cantonment Playground in Nongsohphoh, Shillong, and commenced at 11:00 AM.
A total of 11 schools participated in the annual meet, showcasing impressive performances across various track and field events. Winners were honoured with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, along with certificates recognising their efforts and achievements.
In the individual category, Tanveer Hussain of Gorkha Pathshala Secondary School, Garikhana, was named Best Athlete (Boys), while Christina Chettri from the same school earned the title of Best Athlete (Girls) — underlining the institution’s sporting dominance this year.
The March Past competition saw Gorkha Secondary School, Upper Shillong emerge as winners, with Nepali Kanya Pathshala School, Mawprem finishing as runners-up.
Capping off an excellent campaign, Gorkha Pathshala Secondary School, Garikhana, was declared the Overall Champion School of the athletics meet.
The ceremony also included a special felicitation for the local heroes of the National Kayaking Competition 2025 held in Uttarakhand. Bikash Rana and Indra Sharma, both from Umsning, were honoured for bringing pride to the region with their outstanding performances — securing Gold and Silver medals respectively.
The event marked not just a sporting occasion, but also a celebration of youth potential and the unifying power of athletics in the region.
