Shillong, April 19: The East Khasi Hills District Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2025 is set to take centre stage from May 6 to 8 at the SAI, STC facility in NEHU, Shillong. Organised jointly by the Office of the District Sports Officer, East Khasi Hills, and the East Khasi Hills District Athletics Association, the meet will witness participation from boys and girls across three age categories—Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18.
The annual athletics competition aims to provide a platform for budding school athletes to showcase their talents while also identifying prospects for state-level representation.
A total of 75 participants, including team officials, are expected to take part across multiple disciplines ranging from track events and relays to jumps and throws.
For Under-14 athletes, a unique triathlon format will be introduced, combining sprints, jumps and throws.
The triathlon is further divided into three variations—A, B and C—each designed to test the all-round abilities of young competitors. Participation in a kids’ javelin event is also mandatory for this age group.
Meanwhile, the Under-16 and Under-18 categories will see athletes compete in a wide array of events such as 100m, 400m, 1000m runs, relays, shot put, javelin, discus throw, high jump, and long jump.
Notably, individual athletes in these age groups will be allowed to participate in a maximum of two individual events and one relay. However, restrictions have been placed to avoid overexertion, especially in longer-distance events.
The meet will also crown champion teams based on the number of gold medals secured. In case of a tie, silver and then bronze tallies will be considered.
Additionally, the best athlete award will be decided using a points system based on Athletics Federation of India (AFI) scoring tables.
To maintain the integrity of the competition, age screening for all participants is scheduled for April 22 at 10:00 A.M. at the District Sports Officer’s office in J.N. Stadium, Polo. Competitors must provide original copies of their birth certificates or educational board-issued documents along with their Aadhaar card for verification.
Schools are also required to ensure that only bona fide students with at least 75% attendance are entered.
A crucial requirement this year is the mandatory registration of all participants with the Athletics Federation of India. Schools have been urged to assist students in completing their online registration through the AFI portal.Entry forms must be submitted no later than April 17. Late submissions will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Schools have also been requested to bring two school flags and placards for the march-past on the opening day, adding to the ceremonial flair of the event.
