SHILLONG, May 12: With the arrival of the monsoon in Meghalaya, instances of landslides along NH-06 have begun to surface once again. A landslide occurred at Donar Skur along NH-06 on Sunday, disrupting vehicular movement on the route.
It may be noted that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently undertaking repair work on the dilapidated highway. Certain stretches of the road — especially near the Sonapur Tunnel — are prone to severe landslides during the rainy season.
Commuters frequently face major difficulties while travelling on this route. Meanwhile, many have taken to social media to highlight and express frustration over the poor condition of the highway.
