TURA, May 12: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply), has issued a statement on Monday informing the public that sufficient stock of all essential commodities is available in the district.
The clarification was issued as a counter-measure in view of some fake news circulating on social media regarding a shortage of essential commodities in the district in the wake of ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.
Stating that the news of essential commodities running short is false and unfounded, the DC said it could lead to unnecessary panic and disruption of the normal life of the people.
Appealing to the people not to give credence to unreliable sources and refrain from sharing unverified news, the DC said that the officials of the Supply department are monitoring and checking the stock and prices of essential commodities on a daily basis, adding that both the price and stock of essential commodities were stable at present.
