SHILLONG, May 14: A newly renovated bus shed in the heart of Police Bazar has become a hangout spot for purported drug addicts, who are often seen sleeping or loitering in the area.
The bus shed, which was recently given a facelift, now frequently serves as a resting place for individuals suspected to be under the influence of drugs — turning the location into an eyesore for passersby and tourists alike.
On Thursday evening, eyewitnesses reported seeing a group openly consuming alcohol inside the shed.
Several locals have also complained that suspected drug users often approach pedestrians and tourists asking for money.
A tourist, speaking on Wednesday, recounted an incident while walking from IGP to Police Bazar: “A shabbily dressed, intoxicated young boy came up to us and asked for money. It was quite uncomfortable.”
