Shillong, May 17: As part of its quasquicentennial celebrations, Pine Mount School, in collaboration with the Pine Mount Alumnae Association, organized a 5.5K open-category city run on Saturday, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and alumni.
The run was officially flagged off by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta M. Kurbah, an alumna of the school. The event saw around 700 runners take part, reflecting the strong community spirit and legacy of the institution.
In the 5.5K Open Category (Students), Toiar Naphi Kharjana emerged victorious with a time of 31:05. Mercinia Khriam came in second at 31:52, followed by Lakmensha Lyngdoh Mawphlang in third with 32:56.
In the Male Parents category, Mickey Lambert Sumer secured the top spot with a time of 26:20.
He was followed by Bisharlang Khongwir in second place at 26:27, and Nathaniel Swer in third at 27:05.
In the Female Parents category, Sana Khan clinched first place with a time of 29:47. Mamta Rai finished second at 32:31, and Tailishisha Wanniang came third at 33:45.
In the 5.5K Open Category (Alumni), Dawn Mihsil bagged first place with a time of 36:37. K. Risawanka Kharumnuid secured second place at 38:08, while Mandahakani Ksoo finished third at 39:16.
All participants were awarded medals and certificates as a token of appreciation for their spirited involvement.
During the award ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Rosetta M. Kurbah lauded the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the runners and encouraged them to continue embracing fitness and community engagement.
The East Khasi Hills District Athletics Association (EKHDAA) extended its support for the event, collaborating closely with the school and alumnae association to ensure the smooth execution of the marathon.
