The official trailer of the director Sajin Baabu’s Malayalam film, Theatre: The Myth of Reality, was launched at the prestigious 2025 Cannes Film Festival – Marché du Film in France.
The trailer was launched by veteran film director Sudhir Mishra.
Following his National Award-winning film Biriyani, Sajin Baabu returns with Theatre, a film that explores powerful themes of fading traditions, feminine mysticism, and the blurred boundaries between myth and reality. Theatre has been produced by Anjana Philip and Philip Zackaria under the banner of Anjana Talkies, with Santhosh Kottayi as the co-producer.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the lives of two women who deeply believe that a curse is at the root of the pain and suffering they endure. In a modern world that often dismisses such beliefs, the film invites us to witness how superstition and reality blur in the secluded and mysterious community.
Set in Kerala’s Illikkal Island, the film comes alive through haunting atmosphere, carried by a richly textured narrative, visuals, and sonic landscape. (IANS)
Stars convene for amfAR gala to raise millions
for AIDS research
Artwork by Adrien Brody and James Franco and a chance to sit courtside at a Knicks game with director Spike Lee were among the starry offerings at the annual amfAR Gala to raise money for AIDS research.
Held at the famous Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes on Thursday, the evening attracted scores of celebrities in the area for the Cannes Film Festival. Guests included Brody, Lee, Colman Domingo, Michelle Rodriguez, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, and Heidi Klum.
This year’s top items for sale included a Dodge Charger that featured in Fast X, sold off by Rodriguez, raising 475,000 euros (USD 536,843). There were also some Chopard pear-shaped, yellow-diamond earrings that reached 400,000 (USD 452,005) euros in the bidding.
During the meal guests were also entertained with musical performances from Ciara, who opened the night, Adam Lambert and headlining the dinner with Duran Duran.

American actor Taraji P Henson, best known for Hidden Figures and Empire, appeared on the red carpet of the AmfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival in a custom-made outfit by Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta.
