SHILLONG, May 26: If Rajya Sabha MP, Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi is to be believed, resolution of the NEHU impasse is round the corner.
Kharlukhi on Monday said NEHU officials have informed him about an executive council meeting scheduled to take place in New Delhi on May 30.
“Something positive is likely to come out of the meeting,” he said while adding that the state government is looking into the matter to resolve the impasse at the earliest.
Refusing to comment any further on the matter, he said that Vice Chancellor in-charge Prof. Sherwin May Sungoh has been doing a fine job looking after the affairs of the university.
Two officials from the Ministry of Education visited NEHU last week and held discussions with the NEHU teachers and students.
The students are demanding the removal of Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla accusing him of gross administrative irregularities and his anti-tribal actions.
Prof. Shukla has been on a prolonged leave since November last year and is yet to formally resume office.
