One in police net for possessing heroin in city

SHILLONG, May 26: Traffic personnel from Madanrting Police Station apprehended one person, identified as Nimu Chyrmang of Lad Rymbai, on Monday after heroin was found in his possession during a two-wheeler check at Saw Lad Junction.
According to police, a total of 1.95 grams of heroin was recovered from 109 vials.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, stated that Chyrmang was stopped by traffic officers for riding a scooty (ML 05 Y 7653) without wearing a helmet. During the stop, he attempted to flee and threw a plastic bag from his jacket but was quickly apprehended.
Upon inspecting the plastic packet, officers discovered 109 small vials containing suspected heroin.
Following the discovery, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Khasi Hills was called in for further action.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Madanrting Police Station (Case No. 82(05)2025) under Sections 21(a)/27(a).
