SHILLONG, June 2: Shillong-based musician Lou Majaw, often celebrated as the Northeast’s original rock ’n’ roll rebel, has released a music video for one of his most beloved songs, Rose in My Garden. First written and recorded in 1993, the song has lived on in the hearts of his fans for decades, without ever having a video to go with it.
Now, more than 30 years later, that changes.
The video, directed by Lakhinandan Boruah and produced by Enigmatic Hills Productions, was born out of a casual conversation and shot with little more than a camera, creativity, and an unshakable love for music. At 78 years old, Lou continues to radiate energy, warmth, and charisma, qualities that shine through every frame of the video, now available to watch on YouTube. What makes this release even more special is the story behind it that there was no studio, no script, and no formal plan. It was shot by a team of passionate artists and a shared desire to celebrate a living legend in the most honest, spontaneous way possible. It was shot in an abandoned construction site in Shillong and now, Rose in My Garden has the visual life it always deserved.
