Ampati, June 13: The District-Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2025 concluded across various districts of Meghalaya on Friday, witnessing fierce competition and remarkable performances from young footballers in the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys, and Under-17 Girls categories.
The tournament, held simultaneously in South West Garo Hills (Ampati), West Jaiñtia Hills (Jowai), and East Jaiñtia Hills (Khliehriat), crowned new champions who will go on to represent their districts at the state level in Shillong.
At Ampati, St. Claret Higher Secondary School scripted a historic triumph by sweeping all three titles—Under-17 Boys, Under-17 Girls, and Under-15 Boys—emerging as undisputed champions of South West Garo Hills.
In the Under-17 Boys final, they edged out Future Foundation 2–1. Their Under-17 Girls team clinched victory in a tense 2–1 penalty shootout against Birin Nuchong Secondary School, while the Under-15 Boys registered a thumping 11–5 win over Emmanuel English School.
All Best Player awards in Ampati were secured by St. Claret athletes: Arlundsky D. Sangma (U-17 Boys), Jreamme G. Momin (U-17 Girls), and Alpinson Arengh (U-15 Boys).
The tournament was jointly organized by the District Social Welfare Office and District Sports Office under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, also observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with a pledge taken by all attendees to stand against substance abuse. A total of 13 teams participated across categories.
In East Jaiñtia Hills, the tournament held at the Deinshynrum Football Ground saw Musniang Secondary School, Wapung Higher Secondary School, and Lotus Secondary School, Deinshynrum emerge victorious in the U-15 Boys, U-17 Boys, and U-17 Girls categories respectively.
Musniang blanked KB Memorial 3-0, Wapung HSS thrashed Sein Jait Tuber HSS 4-0, and Lotus edged past Sanshnong Secondary 2-0 in a shootout.
Best Player honours were awarded to Everlasting Dkhar (U-15 Boys), Daemitre Rymbai (U-17 Boys), and Thehlut Sana (U-17 Girls).
Meanwhile, in West Jaiñtia Hills, the final clashes were staged at Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Jowai.
North Liberty Higher Secondary School claimed a double—winning both the U-17 Girls final (2-0 against Kiang Nangbah HSS) and U-17 Boys final (1-0 against Marian Hill HSS).
In the U-15 Boys final, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School edged St. Dominic HSS, Mowkyndeng 3-2 in a tiebreaker after a 1-1 deadlock in regular time.
