SHILLONG, June 14: The Lympung Ki Seng Kynthei (LKSK) has condemned the litany of hate speeches against Meghalaya in the wake of the tragic killing of Raja Raghuvanshi, husband of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the newly married couple from Indore who were on their honeymoon trip to the state recently.
In a meeting, the women’s organisation expressed deep concern over how sections of social media, national media and individuals from across the country resorted to baseless accusations and hateful commentary targeting the people of Meghalaya.
It argued that such actions have unfairly tarnished the image of a peaceful and beautiful state and deeply hurt the sentiments of its people.
The organisation then strongly condemned those responsible for spreading negativity and demanded that they issue a public apology to the people of Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the association lauded the commendable efforts of the search and rescue teams led by the state police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the West Jaintia District Adventurer Mountaineering Club, community members, tourist guides, and others, who were instrumental in tracing the victim’s body.
“In this regard, we would like to express our thanks and gratitude to these wonderful teams and also to the police who cracked the case within a few days. Congratulations to all and salute to our police force,” the organisation stated.
The group also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Raja Raghuvanshi. “As mothers, we understand the pain and agony that the parents of Raja have gone through at the loss of their loving son,” it added.
