TURA, June 14: To commemorate World Blood Donor Day, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised on Saturday at the Tura Police Hospital by Power BloodDonation in association with the Central Puja Committee (CPC), Tura Thakurbari Committee, and Tura Bengalee Association.
The camp, which commenced at 10 am, witnessed an encouraging turnout from the general public, with around a dozen donors coming forward to support the life-saving cause.
A moment of encouragement came when West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Agarwal, also donated blood while motivating others to do the same.
Also among the donors were Debraj Roy, convenor of the camp, and Souvik Sanyal, assistant general secretary of CPC.
The medical operations were led by Dr. Tami G. Momin, who headed the team from the Civil Hospital Blood Bank, Tura. Her team ensured the safe and efficient handling of all medical procedures.
As a thoughtful gesture, donors were served refreshments including water, juice, fruits and sweets. They were also presented with informative pamphlets and small souvenirs in recognition of their contribution.
Meanwhile, the organisers have extended their gratitude to West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police for permitting the use of the police hospital premises, and to the blood bank staff of Civil Hospital for their seamless support throughout the event.
