SWKH village gets health centre after 20-year wait

MAWKYRWAT, June 17: The much-awaited Health Sub-Centre at Ngunraw village was inaugurated on Tuesday, much to the joy of the people of Ngunraw and other villages in the area who have been dreaming and waiting for the centre for more than 20 years.
Located in Ngunraw, 30 km from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills, the health sub-centre was constructed at a cost of Rs 55.50 lakh under the PM-ABHIM, National Health Mission scheme for the year 2021-22 and was implemented by the Village Health Council (VHC) of Ngunraw village.
After inaugurating the centre, Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein said that after getting the petition the village authorities requesting him for improvement of the road and the construction of a health sub-centre which the villagers badly needed, he proactively pursued the matter.
After six years of pursuit, both the projects have been completed.
